At MyHotel Meppel, we believe you can only truly manage a hotel well if you know all the departments. That is why your internship will start with an extensive induction period, during which you will work across various departments. From Front Office and Housekeeping to Food & Beverage and General Services. This way, you get to know the hotel inside and out and discover how all departments collaborate to give our guests an unforgettable stay.

After your induction period, you will start as a Duty Management Intern. You will act as an extension of our department heads and be a true operational linchpin. You will support all departments within the hotel, depending on where extra help is currently needed. No two days are the same: one moment you will be assisting the Front Office during a busy check-in, the next you will be lending a hand in the restaurant, checking the quality of the hotel rooms, or ensuring a VIP arrival is meticulously prepared.

During your duty rounds, you will oversee orderliness, cleanliness, and safety within the hotel. You will identify areas for improvement and technical defects, check the quality of operations, and promptly communicate any specific issues to the General Manager and the relevant department heads. In this way, you actively contribute to a smoothly running organisation and an optimal guest experience.

In addition to your operational duties, you will also have the opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes experience. You will support the General Manager on various projects, contribute to process improvements, and learn how a hotel is managed at a leadership level. Furthermore, you will be responsible for monitoring compliance with laws and regulations, such as Risk Inventory and Evaluation (RI&E), HACCP, legionella management, and other safety regulations. You will ensure that the associated documentation remains up-to-date and actively contribute to a safe and high-quality working environment for both guests and colleagues.

What we ask

• You are following a higher professional education course in hotel management or tourism management
• An availability of 32-38 hours
• Available in the evenings and at weekends
• Interest in the hotel and hospitality industry
• An inquisitive and motivated attitude with a hands-on mentality
• Stress resistance and functioning well in a dynamic environment
• Good command of the Dutch and English languages, both oral and written
