Internship Urban Planning – De Zwarte Hond Groningen

De Zwarte Hond is looking for talented, enthusiastic urban planning students to join our design team in Groningen.

What to expect from an internship at De Zwarte Hond

You will work on projects from the first concept to the implementation phase, developing your design and presentation skills. You will gain experience working out details and translating your ideas for more beautiful places into inspiring drawings and designs.

As a member of one of our design teams led by an experienced urban planner, you will have your own personal mentor to guide you in your development. You can do all this at our office in the heart of Groningen, where you can learn and laugh with plenty of enthusiastic colleagues.

At De Zwarte Hond, an internship is not just about learning and working. We also make sure you feel welcome and part of the team from day one. You will work at our office in the heart of Groningen, surrounded by a driven and committed group of people. Every Monday we start the week together with a healthy lunch for the entire office—a regular moment to catch up and get to know new colleagues. In addition, we regularly organise outings and activities, ranging from excursions and team sessions focused on learning and development to sports activities and informal drinks. In short: you step into an environment where there is space for growth, connection, and enjoyment.

An internship at De Zwarte Hond is for 32 to 40 hours per week and lasts for at least four consecutive months and preferably six months, between September and February 2027.

You are

• Eager to learn, enthusiastic, creative and like working in a team
• Can get your ideas across in images and words
• Fluent in English. Proficiency in Dutch or German preferred
• You are proficient in Vectorworks and Adobe; knowledge of SketchUp or Rhino is an advantage
• Enrolled at a college or university
• The internship can either be part of your curriculum or be taken on a voluntary basis
• You live or study within the EU/EEA countries or Switzerland, or you have a Dutch student visa
